VFW Baseball: VFW team wins 10-0

REDWOOD FALLS -- The Worthington VFW team won in dominant fashion over Redwood, claiming a 10-0 road win in five innings during a VFW baseball game Thursday.

Worthington's bats came to life in the first inning when it pushed across five runs to take an early 5-0 lead.

Worthington tacked on another run in the top of the second and held off the Redwood offense in the bottom of the inning to increase its lead to six.

Logan Thuringer picked up the win for Worthington, going five innings and allowing no runs on three hits. Thuringer threw five strikeouts and walked six batters.

Carson Hagen led the Worthington offense with two hits, while Nate Russell, Joe Pavelko and Luke Drooger each had one hit on the day. Russell and Pavelko each had an RBI and scored at least one run, while Drooger knocked in two runs.

Worthington (14-6, 5-2) travels to Marshall for a tournament this weekend starting with a game today against Marshall Orange.
