Girls basketball roundup: Marshall girls defeat Windom Area; PA bests H-BC

WINDOM — Three Marshall players scored in double figures Saturday as the Tigers defeated Windom Area 83-56 in a girls basketball game.

Kenzie Beekman tallied 20 points, Morgan Saugstad 16 and Sarah Buysse 15 as Marshall roared to a 46-33 halftime lead and outscored the home-standing Eagles 37-23 in the second half.

Jasmine Carlson had 20 and Kelsey Hanefeld 16 for Windom Area (11-10).

Pipestone Area 57, Hills-Beaver Creek 40

HILLS — Libby Schneider scored 22 points and Bianca Klassen added 13 as Pipestone-Area dumped Hills-Beaver Creek.

Taylor Wingert led H-BC with 17 points.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 48, Fulda 36

MARSHALL — Struggling due to the loss of three starters to injury, Fulda was unable to stay with Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

Melissa Gehl had 14 points and six rebounds for Fulda. Katelyn Renneke and Courtney Tiesler each had 10 boards.

All the injured starters for Fulda are expected to return for postseason play.

Dawson-Boyd 72, Southwest Christian 54

DAWSON — Justine Lee put up 35 points and Katarina Kuhlmann had 21.

Dawson-Boyd shot 68 percent from the field and simply outplayed Southwest Christian.

Ann Pater had 16 points and eight rebounds for Southwest. Tianna Top had 15 points, six rebounds and five blocks. And Savannah Tinklenburg had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Southwest travels to Adrian Tuesday night.
