Daily Globe

PIPESTONE — Pipestone Area continued to roll Thursday when it swept a Southwest Conference doubleheader against Windom Area to remain undefeated.

The Arrows were as strong as ever, outscoring the Eagles 29-5 over the course of the two, five-inning games. They finished off the opener with a 15-1 victory before coming out on top of a 14-4 contest in game two.

Pipestone didn’t waste any time getting things going offensively in the opener. It scored four in the first before scoring two in the second and six in the third to take a 13-0 lead. The Eagles finally scratched a run across in the top of the fifth, but that came after the Arrows stretched their advantage to 15-0.

Eighth-grader Shelby Bloemendaal twirled a four-hitter in the win for Pipestone, striking out five and walking just one in the process. Tayla Sysavath went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a double to lead the offense with Brittany Evans going 2-for-3.

Meghan Vesey took the loss on the pitching rubber during a two-strikeout, four–walk performance. Madison Maras and Sutton Dewanz both finished 1-for-3 with a double at the plate.

Pipestone picked up right where it left off in the nightcap, putting up three runs in the top of the first. It added five in the second before Windom finally got a little rolling in the home half with a single run. Still, the Arrows ran away with a 14-4 win.
