Prep baseball: T-M-B nipped in pitcher's duel

TRACY —Josh Altermatt’s one-hitter was just enough for Wabasso to beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in a classic pitcher’s duel Friday night.

Altermatt gave up no runs on one hit and struck out 13 in a 1-0 victory.

Wabasso’s only run came when Altermatt’s brother, Nick, drilled a two-out RBI double.

Taylor Carlson pitched for T-M-B. Carlson gave up one run on two hits over six innings, striking out 11.

Jordan Towne recorded the Panthers’ only hit, an infield single in the fifth.

WINDOM — Windom Area and Pipestone Area split a pair of close games in a doubleheader Friday night.

In the first game, the Eagles got a great performance on the mound from Sam Huska to propel them to a 2-1 victory. Huska went all seven innings, striking out eight, allowing one earned run on seven hits, and walking three.

Dominic Freese took the loss. Freese went six innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits. Freese also struck out seven.

In the nightcap the Arrows rebounded, winning 4-3.

Dominic Freese went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Andrew Larson went yard for Windom Area, blasting a two-run shot. Sam Huska went 2-for-3 with an RBI as well.

Taylor Quiring started on the bump for Windom, going five innings and allowing two runs on four hits. Quiring was relieved by Jack Mellstrom, who picked up the loss. Mellstrom went 1 2/3, giving up two runs on four hits.

Pipestone Area sent Justin Rops to the mound. Rops went four innings, giving up three runs, all earned, on five hits. Rops was relieved by Mario Sada and Brady Bos, who shut down the Eagles. Bos was credited with the win.
