Windom grad Nesseth drafted by Phillies

WINDOM -- University of Nebraska pitcher and Windom graduate Mike Nesseth was selected in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday night by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Nesseth, who was selected in the 15th round a year ago, opted to return to Nebraska this season.

He threw in 10 games, going 1-2, before undergoing Tommy John surgery in April.

Nesseth, who was the 531st overall selection, owns a career 10-7 record with six saves in 57 career appearances for the Huskers. In 116.1 innings, he has notched 136 strikeouts.
