Cross country: Koller, Gehl ease to victory in Tracy
TRACY -- Adam Koller of Worthington and Morgan Gehl of Murray County Central/Fulda breezed to victory in the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panther Invitational cross country meet on Thursday.
Koller won the boys varsity race in 17:08.70. Teammate Christian Lietz placed second in 17:29.70.
On the girls' side, Gehl made it to the finish line in 19:06.10, well ahead of second-place Grace Drietz of Canby, who came in at 19:35.40.
Jayson Peyrel of Redwood Valley was third in the boys' race (17:44.90), Springfield/Cedar Mountain's Mitchell Buerkle was fourth (17:50.70) and Andrew Huber of Worthington was fifth (17:54.10).
Catherine Buffie of Redwood Valley (21:05.60), Mikayla Johnson of Southwest Christian (21:23.00) and Moriah Bullerman of Adrian (21:31.90) placed 3-4-5 for the girls varsity.
Murray County Central/Fulda placed first in the girls team standings with 58 points, nine points ahead of second-place Canby. Southwest Christian, Springfield/Cedar Mountain, Redwood Valley and Worthington, Adrian and Sleepy Eye St. Mary's followed in order.
Redwood Valley out-paced Worthington 51 points to 57 points to win the boys varsity standings. Next, in order, were Canby, Murray County Central, Pipestone Area, Springfield/Cedar Mountain, Lakeview, Windom Area, Southwest Christian, Sleepy Eye St. Mary's, MACCRAY and Wabasso.
