‘Best of The Globe 2018' now underway

Girls soccer: Mankato Loyola trims WHS 2-0

MANKATO -- Two first-half goals were all the Mankato Loyola girls soccer team needed to top visiting Worthington 2-0 on Saturday. The Trojans played well throughout the second half, but they were unable to get on the scoreboard.

For the game, Loyola attempted 11 shots. Worthington attempted eight.

Worthington head coach Emily Ahlquist said her squad played well, especially in the second half.

"In the second half we definitely controlled the ball the majority of the time," she said.

Ariel Reveles put three shots on net for Worthington, and teammates Jacqueline Perez and Marilyn Orellana both attempted two shots.

Loyola's goals were scored on a breakaway and a cross.
