Westendorf leads Trojans past Orabs by three strokes (Golf wrap-up)

SHELDON, Iowa -- Meghan Westendorf shot three strokes better than the rest of the field Tuesday -- and the Worthington Trojans (2-4) edged Sheldon by three, 220-223, in a girls' dual golf meet.

Helping secure the Trojan victory were the scores of Leigh Van Hove (53), Kendall Spartz (55) and Allison Jaycox (62).

Sami Behrens and Sarah Wahlstrom paced the Orabs with identical scores of 53, while Jodi Kruger (58) and Sami Goedkn (59) completed Sheldon's scoring.

The Trojans travel to Hull, Iowa Thursday to tangle with Western Christian.

Windom 177, SWU 247

LAKEFIELD -- Sabrina Bolin's 39 earned her medalist honors as Windom defeated Southwestern United in a girls' golf meet Tuesday.

Casey Christiansen fired a 45, while Ashley Jackson finished with a 46 for the Eagles. Laura Voth finished with a 47 for Windom.

Nicole Mueller shot a 52 to lead SWU (0-6), while Ally Lenz carded a 55. Elizabeth Paul finished with a 56, and Aeriel Nitch shot an 84 for the Wildcats.

Fulda 207, Pipestone Area 210

FULDA --With consistent scores throughout, the Fulda Raiders edged the Arrows in a non-conference meet Tuesday afternoon.

Amanda Wilkening shot the low round for the Raiders (5-0), carding a 49. Chrissy Wieskus and Emily Kremer followed with rounds of 51 each, while Liz Ciesieslski completed the team score with a 56.

PA's Katherine Newhouse shot a medalist round of 44 to pace the Arrows. Kayla Nelson was second best with a 51, while Megan Sommers and Lynn Nelson rounded out the team score with 56 and 59, respectively.

T-M-B Triangular

TRACY --Wabasso's Abby Rohlik shot a medalist round of 50, but the team balance of Westbrook-Walnut Grove gave the Chargers a six-stroke victory over the Rabbits, 235-241.

Alexis Quade and Whitney Frank fired rounds of 56 and 57, respectively, to lead the Chargers, while Danielle Osland and Amanda Deprez each carded a 61.

T-M-B's Vickie Lau tied Quade for second with her score of 56, but the Panthers were incomplete in the team scoring.

Boys Sheldon 170, Worthington 201

SHELDON, Iowa -- The duo of Danny Ridenhour and Michael Westphalen each carded medalist rounds of 41 to lead the Sheldon Orabs to a dual meet victory over Worthington.

Brad Youngs and Cody Schmith both had 44's to help the well-balanced Sheldon performance.

Ryan Radloff paced the Trojans with his score of 45, while WHS teammates Evan Almberg (48), Brady Berry (51) and Scott Simpson (57) completed the scoring.

Windom 162, SSC 173

LAKEFIELD -- With a 39 from Jordan Higley, Windom defeated Southwest Star Concept Tuesday in a boys' golf competition.

Tate Lindvall fired a 40 for Windom, while Adam Wisenmenger shot a 41. Jordan Stahl added a 42 for the Eagles.

For SSC, Brady Hall finished with a 41 to lead the Quasars (5-1). Andrew Rossow finished with a 42, while Cory Pelzel fired a 43. Jeremy Luebben finished with a 47 for SSC.

JCC 169, RL-B 200

JACKSON -- Scott Benson finished with a 3-under 34 to lead Jackson County Central past Round Lake-Brewster Tuesday in a boys' golf match.

Pat Garvin fired a 44 for JCC, while Evan Sieler finished with a 45. Tanner Asa carded a 46 to round out the scoring for the Huskies, while Micah Wiegelt and Tyler Asa finished with a 48 and 51, respectively.

Tim Haberman shot a 42 to lead RL-B, while Erik Bourquin finished with a 48. Cole Baumgard shot a 53, and Craig Correll finished with a 57 for the Raiders.

T-M-B Triangular

TRACY -- Derek Eichner fired a medalist round of 40, leading the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers to a nine-stroke victory over Wabasso in a triangular meet hosted by Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Brandon Jenniges (42), Austin Quade (45) and Jared Lindaman (45) backed up Eichner's performance, as the Chargers put together a winning low score of 172.

Wabasso was second with a 181, followed by T-M-B's total of 194.

Drew Jenniges (44), Jordan Goblish (44), Justin Eichten (45) and Derek Berg (48) were Wabasso's low four scores.

Bo Kirsch and Tyler Christiansen paced the Panthers with rounds of 45 and 46, respectively, while David Nilius (50) and Austin Butman (53) completed the T-M-B scoring.
