WORTHINGTON -- Worthington 518 Targeted Services coordinates two summer programs from June 3-June 28 to help boost success for K - 12 students.

Elementary and Middle School Targeted Services Summer Programming: Summer EDGE (Enrichment Directed towards Gaining and Extending knowledge) offers structured programming for youth completing grades K - 8. EDGE is an academic after-school program that consists of academic assistance for students along with enrichment activities. The enrichment activities include experiential learning opportunities and recreational time. Licensed teachers lead programming that includes fun, hands-on activities that strengthen reading, math and social skills. Prairie Elementary teachers refer students to this summer programming to help students build reading, math and social skills that help build a strong educational foundation.

Grades: K-8 Dates: June 3 - June 28. Days/Time: Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours per day. Location: Prairie Elementary and Worthington Middle School. K-8 Registration: By teacher referral only.

High school targeted services summer credit recovery: High school summer school credit recovery gives southwest Minnesota students completing grades 9-12 the opportunity to make up missed credits from the regular school year in core academic areas. Course offerings are dependent upon the number of students enrolled. Successful completion of a session is worth 0.5 semester credits. To receive credit for a class, students must attend all class sessions and complete all homework assignments. Students and families are responsible for transportation to and from classes.

Grades 9-12: Credit recovery in: English, Social Studies, Math, Science and elective classes. All classes will take place from June 3-June 28. Session 1: 8 to 10 a.m. Session 2: 10:05 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Session 3: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Location is Worthington Area Learning Center, 117 11th Ave., Suite 2.
