Prairie Elementary fourth-graders enjoy a day at Pipestone National Monument last week thanks to a field trip grant from the National Park Foundation as part of the foundation's Open OutDoors for Kids program. Each fourth-grade class got the chance to experience lessons about Native American myth and legend, geology and park etiquette prior to their field trip experience. At Pipestone National Monument, students visited with someone who quarries the pipestone and walked the trails.(Special to The Globe)
