WORTHINGTON — A 4-year-old child missing for more than four hours on Thursday was found shortly before 4:30 p.m. The Worthington Police Department reported that Simon Legesse, a black male wearing a winter coat and glasses, had been dropped off on Knollwood Drive in Worthington by a school bus at noon. The boy’s discovery was made just as members of the Worthington Fire Department began gathering to go out and search for him.

DAILY GLOBE CLOUD -- It seemed as if everything that could go wrong went wrong for the Minnesota West men’s basketball team Wednesday night. After the West women eased to victory over St. Cloud Tech, the men were easily beaten by their St. Cloud counterparts. The score was 118-65. “It was all on display tonight,” Minnesota West head coach Kris Babler said of the Cyclones’ dominance.
CLOUD -- Six players scored in double figures as the Minnesota West Lady Jays coasted past St. Cloud Tech 98-66 Wednesday night. The Jays started fast, led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in improving to 19-5 on the season. So dominant were the visitors against a team lacking comparable size, that they out-rebounded the Cyclones 66-36 and had 21 assists.
Crashes SIBLEY, Iowa — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated a crash reported at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of 170th Street and U.S. 59. A 2004 Dodge Dakota operated by Laurie Marie Schott, 48, of Lake Park, Iowa was traveling west on 170th Street and lost control after hitting a patch of frost on the roadway. The vehicle entered the north ditch, rolled over and came to a rest. The Dodge sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. No injuries were reported.
WORTHINGTON — A retirement coffee for longtime city of Worthington employee Al Gerdes is scheduled for Monday. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the conference room of Worthington City Hall.
WORTHINGTON — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is postponing tonight’s public meeting in Worthington because of an expected snow storm. The meeting was to detail Gov. Mark Dayton’s budget proposal and proposed license fee increase for hunting and fishing. The meeting has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 9 at the Elks’ Lodge in Worthington.
WORTHINGTON — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will host an informational meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Elks Lodge, 1105 Second Ave., Worthington, to discuss proposals to increase hunting and fishing license fees. DNR officials will discuss the need for fee changes and how license money is used. Area hunters, trappers, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to attend.
