Accidents JEFFERS — The Minnesota State Patrol investigated a two-vehicle accident reported at 9:28 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 71 and Minnesota 30. A 1997 Toyota Corolla operated by Ryan J. Brown, 23, of Lake Crystal, and a 1996 Chevy pickup operated by Riley A. Brech, 15, of Sioux Falls, S.D., collided. The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Police Department and Jeffers Fire and Ambulance also responded to the scene. WORTHINGTON — The United Way of Nobles County succeeded in making its fundraising goal for Wednesday’s evening telethon. The telethon, which took place at Worthington High School, netted $6,729 from the Taste of Nobles County food stand, telethon pledges and the silent auction. The goal for the evening was $6,000. The United Way of Nobles County hopes to raise $160,000 during its current fundraising campaign.

WORTHINGTON — Prairie Elementary will honor men and women who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces on Friday. The day will begin with a free breakfast for veterans with their spouse or a guest at 7:30 a.m. in the Prairie Elementary gym . A program with student essays and patriotic songs will follow at 7:45 a.m. Prairie Elementary’s K-Kids will give building tours to the veterans following the program. K-Kids is a group of third- and fourth-grade students at Prairie Elementary that works each year to help prepare for the school’s Veterans Day program.
WORTHINGTON — Sanford Worthington and Community Blood Bank will host a community blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m. today at Sanford Worthington Medical Center, 1018 Sixth Ave., Worthington. Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org ), weigh 110 pounds or more, be in good general health and bring identification. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood. The donation process only takes 20 to 30 minutes on the bloodmobile. Walk-ins are welcome.
