ST. PAUL — One hundred rural small business and agriculture producers in Minnesota were assisted by funding through USDA Rural Development’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) in 2013. Funding for 75 of these projects was recently announced by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. The 2013 REAP funding will provide $2.3 million to Minnesota-based rural small businesses and farmers who will then leverage personal funds and other incentives to construct $10 million worth of projects throughout the state.
HUTCHINSON — Adrian Care Center, Inc., owned by James and Kathleen Birchem, recently received loan assistance from the Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) Business Finance loan program for the purpose of upgrading fixtures in the clinic as well as upgrading resident rooms and common areas in Adrian. Adrian Care Center, Inc. is a 30-bed Skilled Nursing Facility and is part of a Health Care Campus located in Adrian.
WORTHINGTON — At its annual meeting on Nov. 25, the Worthington Area YMCA approved new members to its Board of Directors. All directors are elected by nomination from the Board Development Committee and Board of Directors, and then voted on by the eligible membership of the YMCA at the annual meeting. New members elected to three-year terms are: Colin O’Donnell, Lisa Gerdes, Mike Hammer and Chad Nixon.
