Ruth Larson, 83, of Jasper, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at her home. Surviving are three children, Margaret (Larry) Joy, Edina, Ellen Bentzen, Robbinsdale, and Loren (Cindy) Larson, Kingman, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hartquist Funeral Home, Foster Chapel, Jasper. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery.
Anna Jean Evans, 87, of Milford, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at a Sioux Falls, S.D., hospital. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m., at Turner Funeral Home, Milford. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Milford. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa.
Emma Malinda Wenzel, 94, of Fulda, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Fulda. Surviving are four children, Leland (Marlys) Wenzel, Rapid City, S.D.; Vernon (Leann) Wenzel, Fulda; Arden (Karen) Wenzel, Rapid City, S.D. and Mary Kuiper, Pipestone; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Totzke Funeral Home, Fulda, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fulda. Donald E. Holbeck, 72, of Luverne, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Sanford Luverne Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Nova; five children, Craig (Gena) Holbeck, Brandon, S.D.; Daniel (Mary Kay) Holbeck, The Woodlands, Texas; David Holbeck, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Cherise (Eddy) Ray, Luverne, and Steven Holbeck, Sioux Falls; three sisters, Vera Mae Johnson, Baltic, S.D.; Arla (Don) Reynolds, Salem, Va.; and Shirley (Harold) Goehrs, Baltic; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Luverne. The service will be 2 p.m.
Wayne Peltola was a man that believed in family and helping his fellowman. This was a lesson that he taught his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren by example. Wayne was born on July 22, 1914 in Ironton, Minnesota to Nestor and Amelia Korpi Peltola. He grew up in Ironton and Minneapolis, MN and graduated from high school in 1932. Wayne then moved to Mankato, MN to live with family. On October 9, 1941 he and Julia Ruppert were married at St. Peter and Paul Church in Mankato.
Darrell Wells, 91, of Lake Park, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Lake Park Care Center. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m., at Turner Funeral Home, Lake Park. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Lake Park. Burial will be in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery, Ocheyedan, Iowa.
Agnes Margaret Gully, 81, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Pipestone, has died. Surviving are four sons, Richard (Marlene) Gully, Watertown, S.D.; Michael (Lori) Gully, Sioux Falls, Kenneth (Janette) Gully, Topeka, Kan., and Brian (Lisa) Gully, Sioux Falls; two daughters, Jean Guy, Carroll, Iowa and Maria Zinter, Aberdeen, S.D.; one brother, Bruno Furhmann, Subiaco Abbey, Ark.; two sisters, Anastasia Klein, Topeka, Kan., and Juliana Grewing, Muenster, Texas; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m.
Olivia Patricia Gervais, 86, of Duluth, formerly of Jackson, died Tuesday, Oct.
Dave Buss, age 54, of Adrian, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Sanford Hospital Luverne. He was born April 8, 1954 in Adrian to parents Tony and Grace (Boltjes) Buss. He attended school in Adrian and also Ellsworth. Dave was united in marriage to Sandra Roemeling on April 23, 1971 in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in Adrian all these years. He worked at Adrian Tile Plant, Carl's Farm Store, Adrian Farm and Garden Center and then worked as a custodian for the Adrian School District. Dave especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Daniel Raymond Studelska, son of Peter and Mary (Staloch) Studelska, was born on August 30, 1921 in Aylesbury, Saskatchewan in Canada. Dan's father passed away when Dan was 8 years old, and Mary moved her young family to the Staloch family farm near Easton, Minnesota. Two years later, the family moved to Wells, Minnesota. Dan played football for Wells High School, and played the bassoon in the band. Dan graduated from Wells High School in 1939, and worked several odd jobs in the area following graduation.
