Daniel Raymond Studelska, son of Peter and Mary (Staloch) Studelska, was born on August 30, 1921 in Aylesbury, Saskatchewan in Canada. Dan's father passed away when Dan was 8 years old, and Mary moved her young family to the Staloch family farm near Easton, Minnesota. Two years later, the family moved to Wells, Minnesota. Dan played football for Wells High School, and played the bassoon in the band. Dan graduated from Wells High School in 1939, and worked several odd jobs in the area following graduation.
Jeanne Van Kley, 92, of Worthington, formerly of Ocheyedan, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at South Shore Care Center, Worthington. Surviving are four children, Alan (Cathy) Van Kley, Ankeny, Iowa, Clinton Van Kley, Farnhamville, Iowa, Neal (Cindy) Van Kley, Spencer, Okla., and Linda (Gayden) Wohlman, Worthington; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present, at Andringa Funeral Chapel, Ocheyedan. The service will be 1:30 p.m.
Lorraine Groves, 80, of Slayton, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Slayton. Surviving are five children, Diann (Trace) Hafner, Slayton, Dennis (Dori) Groves, Montana, Julie (Rick) Grann, Fort Collins, Colo., Mary (Mike) Denker, New Prague, and Randy (Dawn) Groves, Slayton; five siblings, Eileen Murphy, Painted Post, N.Y., Alan Hartman, Barrett, Alice (Rolland) Boom, Alexandria, Betty (Wallace) Carl, Alexandria, and June (Warren) Lindsley, Marshall; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
Wayne W. Haroldson, 81, of Windom, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Windom Area Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Haroldson, Windom; four children, Diane Carlson, Windom, Steve Haroldson, Worthington, Susan (Gary) Schmidt, Plainfield, Ill., and Mary Borsgard, Windom; three brothers, Ronald (JoAnn) Haroldson, Grand Rapids, Keith (Pat) Severson, Tower, and Larry Severson, Waseca; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today at American Lutheran Church, Windom. The service will be 10 a.m.
Leroy D. Hranicka, 86, of Trimont, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Trimont Health Care Center, Trimont. Surviving are two sons, Kevin (Sharon) Hranicka, Keosauqua, Iowa, and Gary (Karen) Hranicka, Brownton; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The service will be 10:30 a.m. today at United Methodist Church, Trimont, with the Rev. Joel Xavier officiating. Burial will be in Elm Creek Cemetery, Trimont. Kramer Family Funeral Home, Trimont, is in charge of arrangements.
Wayne Peltola, 94, of Currie, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at his home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Currie. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Currie. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Currie. Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, is in charge of arrangements.
Fanny Oltmans, 102, of Adrian, formerly of Rushmore, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Sanford Adrian Care Center, Adrian. Surviving is her brother, John Johnson, Rushmore. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastfriesland Church of Christ, Rushmore. The service will be 1:30 p.m. at Eastfriesland Church of Christ, Rushmore, with the Rev. Beryl Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery, Rushmore. Dingmann Funeral Home, Adrian, is in charge of arrangements.
Debra Kaye Hunter, 54, of Sheldon, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Surviving are her mother, Cora "Billie" Engelsman, Sheldon; and one brother, Dan (Cathy) Engelsman, Sheldon. The service will be 10:30 a.m. today at Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service, Sheldon, with the Rev. Greg Timmer officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon.
Gerald "Jerie" Tams, 54, of Round Lake, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. Surviving are his wife, Debbie Tams, Round Lake; two sons, Jamie Tams, Round Lake, and Jesse Tams, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and one brother, Gordon (Barbara) Tolomeo, Rochester, N.Y. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Larry Brixius officiating. Benson Funeral Home, Worthington, is in charge of the arrangements.
Arlene Helen Lintner, 71, of Show Low, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Banner Thunderbird Hospital, Glendale, Ariz. Surviving are her husband, Glen Lintner; children, Dan (Carri) Lintner, Peoria, Ariz., Lucy Jackson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Jan (Tom) Jeans, Selby, S.D., and Beth (Ron) Reinsma, Apple Valley; one sister, Frances (Jorgie) Jorgenson, Westbrook; one brother, Leo (RoeAnn) Vosberg, Westbrook; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook.
