Thomas Donald Vandeputte, 59, of Lake Crystal, formerly of Tracy, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Almlie Funeral Home, Tracy. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tracy. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Tracy.
Fay R. Kuehl, 70, of Westbrook, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Fulda. Surviving are her husband, Bud Kuehl; two daughters, Deb (Craig) Jans, Westbrook, and Julie (Paul) Nault, Omega, Okla.; siblings, Audrey Spielman, Bertie Hovde, Harris Lintner, Glen (Arlene) Lintner, Jeanette (Fred) Lindall, Gloria (Jim) Tighe and Ron (Nancy) Lintner; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Westbrook Funeral Home, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Janevieve "Jane" Lodica Morris Schultz, 66, of Westbrook, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Westbrook Good Samaritan Center. Surviving are two sisters, Janet (Arnie) Carrison and Amelia "Amie" (Louis) Olson. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook. The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook. Burial will be at a later date in Westbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church or the Cottonwood County Food Shelf. Westbrook Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Verna W. Kragh, 85, of Pipestone, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at her home. Surviving are two children, Steve Kragh, Pipestone, and Beth (Marlin) Poor, Yuma, Ariz.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step- great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a time of sharing memories at 7 p.m., at Hartquist Funeral Home, Pipestone chapel. The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Pipestone. Burial will be in Hendricks Cemetery, Hendricks.
Darrold Willis Bauman, 82, of Ihlen, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Bauman, Ihlen; four children, Willard (Susan) Bauman, Madison Lake, Gaile (Jerry) Brockberg, Pipestone, Carol (Jay) Scheurs, Walker, and Kenneth (Deb Guenthner), Rochester; one sister, Ardyce (David) DeWitte, Fullerton, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jasper. The service will be 10:30 a.m.
Lena Meyer, 98, of Reading, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Sunset Hospice Cottage, Worthington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington. The service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Reading, with the Rev. Monte Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
George J. Mann, age 92 of Luverne, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Sanford Hospital in Luverne. He was born September 11, 1916 in Luverne to parents, Albert W. and Hilda L. (Wulf) Mann. He was baptized on October 29, 1916 and later confirmed on June 21, 1931 all at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. George attended rural school in district four west in Rock County. After his schooling he farmed with his family south of Luverne and was involved with the 4-H program.
Karen Jean Harders, daughter of Robert L. and Betty (Hindt) Kruger, was born Feb. 13, 1956, in Sibley, Iowa, and passed away at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon on September 17, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, George; children, Matt and wife Amanda, Mark, Luke and Jennifer; and her parents, Robert and Betty Kruger. Other survivors include her sisters, Elaine (Gene) Holmquist, Joyce (George) Bruder, Anita (Robert) Hoting, and Brenda (Will) Kroontje; and brother Robert Jr.
Mildred Hergert, 83, of Slayton, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Surviving are three children, Sandy (Norman) Bolt, Wadena, Craig Hergert, Minneapolis, and Kristin Hergert, Sioux Falls; and two sisters, Alfrieda (Leroy) Jacobson, Granite Falls, and Hilda McGill, Dawson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Totzke Funeral Home, Slayton, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Slayton. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Slayton, with the Rev. Doug Minton officiating.
Adam Caviness, 37, of Windom, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at his home. Surviving are his parents, Mark and Joyce Caviness, Windom; fiancée, Stephanie Ulstad, Windom; one sister, Lisa (Kevin) Rose, Windom; and grandmother, Irene Caviness, Windom. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Windom. The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. today at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Windom, with the Rev. Stephen Norby officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Windom.
