Janet Nelson, 67, of Hills, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at the Sanford Hospital, Luverne. Arrangements are pending with Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne.
Daniel Van Dyk, 84, of Boyden, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at his home. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Boyden. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, with the Rev. Trudy Peterson and the Rev. Kim Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Boyden. Memorials are preferred to Sioux County Hospice, Sioux Center Hospital.
Raymond A. Kilker, 93, of Worthington, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at the Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Worthington Christian Church with the Rev. Ron Ahlgren officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Lyman "Beans" Winge, 66, of Luverne, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Surviving are two sons, Trent (Nicole) Winge, Velburg, Germany, and Dane Winge, Redwood Falls; three sisters, Mavis (Loren) Amundson, Sioux Falls, S.D., LaJean (Marvin) Lammert, Luverne, and Dixie (Thomas) Arends, Luverne; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hartquist Funeral Home ---Engebretson Chapel, Luverne. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Luverne, with the Rev. Dan DeBlock officiating.
Bernard Eischen, age 92 of Comfrey, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey with burial at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 16, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Marjorie "Marj" Ahrnes Gentry, 90, of Lakefield, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hansen Funeral Home, Lakefield. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Lakefield, with the Rev. Daniel Brewer officiating. Private family burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, Jackson.
Avis S. Fletcher, age 80, of rural Worthington, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the North Central Heart Institute, in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born October 4, 1927 at her home in Little Rock Township to Harvey and Cora (Ostrem) Kruse. She attended country school at District 12 in rural Little Rock Township, MN. Avis married Kenneth C. Fletcher on February 21, 1948, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, in rural Rushmore.
Bernell Steinbeck, 95, of Rochester, formerly of Lakefield, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at his home. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lakefield. The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lakefield, with the Rev. Jonathan Nack officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Lakefield. Hansen Funeral Home, Lakefield, is in charge of arrangements.
Calvin Rudi Mayner Stade, 71, of Jackson, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at his home in Jackson. Surviving is his wife, Janet Stade, Jackson; a son, Mike (Deb) Stade, Jackson; three daughters, Dawn (Mike) Eddy, Jackson, Chris (Randy) Wirt, Parker, S.D., and Debra (Mark) Core of Pleasantview, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Osterberg Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dan Taylor and the Rev.
