Avis Fletcher, 80, of rural Worthington, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at the North Central Heart Institute, Sioux Falls, S.D. Surviving is one son, LaDean "Butch" (Lori) Fletcher, Worthington; three brothers, Dwaine (Wilma) Kruse, Adrian, Delmer Kruse, Adrian, and Eldon "Babe" (Lorna) Kruse, Rushmore; and two sisters, Dolores (Carl) Kopplow, Adrian and Marlene Christians, Ellsworth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dingmann Funeral Home, Worthington, and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Eastfriesland Church of Christ, Rushmore. The service will be at 10 a.m.
Calvin Rudi Mayner Stade, 71, of Jackson, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at his home in Jackson. Surviving is his wife, Janet Stade, Jackson; a son, Mike (Deb) Stade, Jackson; three daughters, Dawn (Mike) Eddy, Jackson, Chris (Randy) Wirt, Parker, S.D., and Debra (Mark) Core of Pleasantview, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Osterberg Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dan Taylor and the Rev.
Lois Thoreson, 57, of Lakefield, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 at the home of her special friend. Surviving is one brother, Wayne (Deb) Thoreson, Lakefield; and special friend, Stan Larson, Jackson. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Osterberg Funeral Home, Jackson, and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Belmont Lutheran Church, Belmont Township, Jackson County. The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Belmont Lutheran Church with the Rev. Truman Larson officiating. Burial will be in West Belmont Cemetery.
Edna Reedy, 94, of Windom, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial, Windom. Surviving is one son, Allen Reedy, Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Judith Brown, Bonita Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with parish prayers at 7 p.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Windom, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Windom. The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Windom, with the Rev. Andrew Olsem officiating.

Cal Stade, 71, of Jackson, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at his home. Arrangements are pending with Osterberg Funeral Home, Jackson.
Beverly Dee Thraen was born on June 4, 1927 in Slayton, Minnesota to Herman and Gertrude (Ada) Shults Smestad. Bev grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1944. On April 7, 1951 she and Raymond Thraen were married in Sioux Fall, SD. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton and raised their three daughters. In 2004 Bev moved to the Maplewood Assisted Living Apartments in Fulda. In February 2005 Bev became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda and passed away there on September 8, 2008 at the age of 81. She was a member of St.
Wilma Vanden Berg, 89, of Spring Park, formerly of Edgerton, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at the Care Center, Spring Park. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Reformed Church, Edgerton. The service will be 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Reformed Church, Edgerton. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.
Harold Dean Vaupel, age 67 of Westbrook, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the Windom Area Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery. The Westbrook Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Guy Edwin Williams, age 89, of Worthington, died, Friday, September 5, 2008 at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born February 9, 1919 in Neosho, Missouri to parents Ben and Carrie (Rollings) Williams. Guy graduated from Neosho High School in Neosho, Missouri in 1936. At the age of 14 and thru his teenage years he began entering model planes and coaches in the Fischer Craftsmanship Guild state competitions. He was successful in winning in many of the events.
