MINNEAPOLIS -- The Marshall Tigers broke free from a 1-1 tie after five innings to beat Red Wing 3-1 Thursday afternoon in a first-round Minnesota state Class AAA high school baseball game at Siebert Field at the University of Minnesota. A couple of sixth-inning errors helped Marshall prevail. Teddy Tauer pitched well for Red Wing, allowing just one earned run on four hits and two walks, while striking out 11 in seven innings. But the Tigers' Mason Penske got the win in a complete game. He allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out seven.
JACKSON -- Dylan Svoboda threw four solid innings to pick up the win and Nate Reed pitched a scoreless fifth as the Jackson American Legion baseball team defeated Fairmont 10-0 Wednesday. The Jacksonians scored seven runs in the second inning on five hits.
ADRIAN -- The Worthington American Legion baseball team defeated Adrian 11-4 on Tuesday in a game that was shortened to five innings because of bad weather. Logan Huisman was the winning pitcher, going 3.1 innings. He was relieved by Easton Sauerbrei, who pitched 1.2 innings. Huisman and Sauerbrei both collected three hits, with both of them getting a double and a triple. Adrian had two hits -- one by Mitchell Wagner and another a bunt single by Nick Carter. Jake Stamer started on the mound and took the loss for Adrian.

The Stock Car ace chalked up his third series win in as many nights at Nobles County Speedway Saturday, with Mason City, Iowa, remaining on the weekend schedule. In doing so, Zevenbergen earned a $200 bonus from Big Orv’s Bar in Adrian, Minnesota. The bonus comes from winning on back-to-back nights with Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
