WORTHINGTON — The Minnesota Highway Safety Center will be offering a 55+ Driver Improvement Course from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 21 at the Center for Active Living, 211 11th St.
It was a wild one in Minneota Saturday night as the host Vikings prevailed over Windom Area in overtime in the south quarterfinals of the Section 3A boys basketball tournament. The fourth-seeded Vikings beat the fifth-seeded Eagles 69-64. In other games from the south half, Jackson County Central eased past Martin County West 82-50, Pipestone Area tripped Luverne 77-57 and Redwood Valley topped Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 92-71.

The Luverne boys hockey team will open against top-seeded Hermantown Wednesday in the first round of the state Class A tournament at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The game will start at 6 p.m. Hermantown is 26-1-1 on the season and Luverne is 22-5-1.
The Worthington Trojans boys basketball team will open the Section 2AAA tournament at Mankato East High School Tuesday with a 7 p.m. game against the third-seeded Cougars. Worthington is seeded sixth in the tournament. Other 7 p.m. first-round games Tuesday pit Hutchinson (8) at Marshall (1), Mankato West (5) at Faribault (4) and New Ulm (7) at Waseca (2).
LES KNUTSON Daily Globe MARSHALL — In dominating fashion, the fast-moving and accurate shooting Eagles of Southwest Minnesota Christian High School, based in Edgerton, repeated as the Section 3A South girls basketball champions Friday evening with an impressive 97-67 victory over top-seeded Red Rock Central at Southwest Minnesota State University.
WORTHINGTON — Worthington #3, of the Worthington High School Knowledge Bowl team, placed second in sub-regional competition Friday at Jackson County Central.

ADRIAN — Sanford Adrian Clinic and Adrian Ambulance will host a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. March 13 at the Adrian Ambulance Garage. Community Blood Bank will be taking donations to benefit the local area blood supply.
Edgerton Public and Hills-Beaver Creek advanced Thursday in play-in games for the Section 3A boys basketball tournament. The Flying Dutchmen eclipsed Ellsworth 59-32 in Edgerton and the Patriots beat Heron Lake-Okabena 80-66 in Hills on a night when Zach Scholten scored his 1,000th career point.
