Lady Jays edge MState in five FERGUS FALLS -- The Minnesota West volleyball squad went five full games to trim host MState-Fergus Falls Friday night, finally winning the fifth game 15-13 on a Kiana Leighty tip from the outside. Andrea Hinkeldey had 19 kills, 30 digs and seven blocks for the Lady Jays. Leighty had 11 kills and 33 digs, and Emily Shaffer was credited with 16 kills and three blocks. Haley Unke had 38 set assists.

WORTHINGTON — Nobles County Auditor-Treasurer Beth Van Hove submitted her resignation to the county in a brief letter to Administrator Tom Johnson and commissioners dated Aug. 21. Van Hove’s last day in office will be Sept. 7. She has filled the position of auditor-treasurer for the past five years. She was not seeking reelection, and her term was due to expire at the end of the year.
