ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development awarded a $1.98 million grant to Luverne to assist with the expansion of Ralco Nutrition’s Tru Shrimp facilities. The $5.39 million infrastructure project will include street improvements north of Koehn Avenue, as well as storm and sanitary sewer, water main and other site improvements.
DEED awarded the funds from its Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program. Luverne was one of four communities to be awarded a grant. Marshall received the largest grant, $2 million, which will be used to support development of a new industrial park to also accommodate Ralco Nutrition.
The grants are for up to 50 percent of the cost of public infrastructure that supports economic development outside the seven-county Twin Cities metro area.
