AMES, Iowa — In response to high levels of both personal and financial farm stress, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach is offering four “Farm Couple Getaways” for farmers to improve farm family communication, work on farm or family goal setting, farm transitioning or just to take a weekend away to discuss farm and family issues.

Four options are available:

Dec. 14-15, EWALU Stone Center, Strawberry Point.

Jan. 31-Feb. 1, Hotel Winneshiek, Decorah.

Feb. 21-22, Lake Shore Center at Okoboji, Milford.

March 19-20, Best Western Plus Hotel, Dubuque.

The getaways are from 12:30 p.m. on the first day to 3:15 p.m. on the second day. There is no cost to attend — food, lodging and other expenses are funded by sponsorships. However, a deposit is required to hold each reservation, refundable on the second day of the getaway.

Each getaway consists of 10 farm couples and the extension facilitators. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, visit
