FALCON HEIGHTS — Isaac Berg of Pipestone County was awarded a $4,000 scholarship through the 2020 Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association Purple Ribbon 4-H Auction. The winners were announced during the virtual 4-H Auction Scholarship Awards program Sept. 7.
This year, 51 youth leaders shared $87,000 in scholarship donations.
The cancellation of the 2020 Minnesota State Fair meant the cancellation of the 41st annual MLBA Purple Ribbon 4-H Auction during the State Fair.
Kent Thiesse, 4-H Auction Finance chairman, said 4-H Auction scholarships were awarded as a result of the support of 57 businesses, organizations and individuals that were donors of the 4-H Auction scholarships this year. Matching funds for scholarships were donated by Ames Construction of Burnsville, a long-time major supporter of the 4-H Auction.
Berg was one of five $4,000 scholarship winners. Also earning scholarships from this area were:
$2,000 scholarship: Samantha Larson, Murray County; Jordann Schneekloth, Jackson County.
$1,000 Scholarship: Ethan Varilek, Jackson County; Whitney Elbers, Rock County.
