Marco Inc. purchases hosted/cloud services business
WORTHINGTON - Marco Inc. has announced the purchase of the hosted/cloud services business of Twin Cities-based InCompass IT.
“This offering of hosted applications and infrastructure augments our well-established Managed IT Services division and allows us to expand hosted/cloud services to our 18,000 customers,” Marco CEO Jeff Gau said in a press release. “This will accelerate our regional and national expansion.”
InCompass IT has provided hosted applications and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for nearly two decades. It led the industry with the adoption of remote support technologies and implementation of managed services and was early to initiate cloud solutions with fully hosted desktops. InCompass IT will continue to operate its consulting business under that name.
“This continues our commitment to provide the types of solutions our customers are evaluating for their businesses today,” said Trevor Akervik, Director of Managed Services at Marco. “It also allows our customers, when appropriate, to transfer IT from a large capital investment to a much more affordable and scalable monthly operating expense and gain 24-7 support from Marco’s local call center.”

AgStar fund accepting grant applications
MANKATO - The AgStar Fund for Rural America, the corporate giving program of AgStar Financial Services, has announced it is once again accepting grant applications for programs that enhance the quality of life and future opportunities for rural residents and their communities.
Recipients will be awarded up to $10,000 for projects or programs that align with the Fund’s mission.
“AgStar takes pride in giving back to the communities we live and work in,” said John Monson, chair of the AgStar Fund’s Board of Trustees, in a press release. “Through the Fund for Rural America, we are able to fulfill our mission of enhancing life in agriculture and rural America by supporting those who support agriculture.”
AgStar encourages those seeking funding to visit AgStar.com to learn about the AgStar Fund and see if they meet the guidelines. Grant applications can be completed online and will be accepted until Nov. 30. Grants will be awarded in the spring of 2014.
Since its inception in 2001, the AgStar Fund has donated more than $4 million to organizations working to improve the future of rural America. Applications considered for funding and support must align with the fund’s mission of “enhancing life in agriculture and rural America.”
Fisher to speak at Manufacturers Summit

Professional society recognizes Nickel
WORTHINGTON - The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) recently honored Trevor Nickel of Nickel & Associates Insurance Agency, Worthington, for dedication and leadership in the insurance industry.
