Cover Crop Field Talk is Sept. 11 at Luverne

LUVERNE -- The Rock County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a Cover Crop Field Talk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Tom Fick farm, 1157 110th Ave., Luverne.

LUVERNE - The Rock County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a Cover Crop Field Talk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Tom Fick farm, 1157 110th Ave., Luverne.

Topics covered include integrating cattle and cover crops for more profit, cover crop termination, planting into cover crops, machinery for cover crops and benefits of cover crops for soil and plant health.

Demonstrations will including planting in terminated and non-terminated cover crop test plots and a rainfall simulator to compare different cropping and tillage methods.

The day will include a panel of experienced cover crop farmers, including Tom Fick, Terry Aukes, Brent Fluit, Brad Petersen, Jason Prins and Brand Vandeberg.

There is no cost to attend, and lunch is provided for free if registered by Sept. 7. To register, call the Rock County SWCD at (507) 283-8862.
