WORTHINGTON - A new Domino’s store will open in Worthington next month at 1300 Humiston Avenue.
Franchise owner Ryan Hawkins of Coon Rapids explained that cold weather gridlock and the recent government shutdown caused some construction delays, but the restaurant is now on track to open toward the end of April.
Hawkins has worked for Domino’s since 1999 and has always dreamed of opening his own franchise. The Worthington location will be his first.
Pizza aficionados can look forward to a style of store that Domino’s calls a “pizza theater” - a layout that allows customers to watch every step of production. It will even have some steps for kids to watch what’s called “the dough show” as they wait for their pizza to be ready.
Domino’s will offer delivery, carryout and sit-in service on its menu of pizzas, sandwiches, pastas and side items.

Hawkins added that he chose Worthington for his restaurant for a couple of reasons.
First, he said, “we really, really like the feel of the community.” Worthington is a place, he said, where people smile and greet you on the street. The small-town friendliness is a big part of what made him want to move here and open a business.
Second, “the economy is doing really well.” Hawkins was impressed by Worthington’s bustling main street and diversity of industry.
“It shows that people are still investing in the town,” he explained.
Domino’s will invest in Worthington by bringing about 40 jobs to the city. The franchise is currently hiring and has a particular need for delivery drivers.
Delivery drivers must be at least 18, have car insurance and a clean driving record and supply their own vehicle.
To apply, text PIZZA to (507) 200-4949.
As building construction continues, Hawkins will announce an exact opening date.
