For the eighth consecutive year, the sharing of innovative ideas -- not to mention important networking -- will be the focus of the Regional Bioscience Conference, which is being coordinated by the Worthington Regional Economic Development Corp.
This year, the conference will take place at the brand-new Biotechnology Advancement Center (BAC). That allows an opportunity to both show off the facility to visitors and -- perhaps -- initiate a little positive word of mouth for businesses who may be interested in utilizing the building.
While many community leaders tout the BAC's potential, bringing those businesses to Worthington doesn't simply happen overnight. Nor does simply starting an enterprise, for that matter, which is something the WREDC is aiming to address at this year's conference.
One of the sessions during Day 1 of the conference (scheduled for March 29-30) is titled, "Launching a New Business: Navigating the Mine Field." Three speakers are slated to address such topics as business plans, protecting intellectual property and raising capital during the session.
Other speakers with economic development backgrounds are also set to speak during both days of the Regional Bioscience Conference. They should give those in the bioscience arena ideas on how to both start a business -- and how to start one in the Worthington area. That aspect, along with a host of other scheduled sessions, should make for another outstanding event.
