MILBANK, S.D. - The fire couldn’t have come a worse time.
Late Wednesday night - in the midst of the spring planting season - the Titan Machinery dealership in Milbank in far northeast South Dakota burned to the ground.
Despite the timing, regional manager Dave Munkeby said they hoped to reopen the business as best they could on Monday.
“The fire that destroyed our ... store was devastating and comes at a very busy time. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the fire,” said Titan spokesman Jason Anderson of West Fargo, N.D.
He said all of the Milbank store’s four service trucks were destroyed in the fire, but they hoped to have replacements within a few days.
Anderson also said that they are working with neighboring Titan dealerships during this time.
For example, phone calls are being rerouted to the Watertown, S.D., office for assistance.
Also some of the employees will be working out of the neighboring dealerships.
The company was, however, working on putting up a mobile office in Milbank - also in the next few days.
“The outpouring of support from the Milbank area has been overwhelming and heartwarming. We would like to thank the community for all of their assistance during this difficult time for both our customers and employees,” said Anderson. “We would also like to thank our Milbank employees for pulling together and putting the contingency plan in place to continue to support our customers during this very busy planting season.
“Our focus moving forward is to serve our customers to the best of our ability so they can have a successful planting season,” he said.
