JACKSON — The Jackson Business Development Committee (JBDC) announces The R.E.S.T. Stop as the winner of the 2020 Jackson Business Challenge and Plaza Jalisco Mexican Restaurant & Cantina as the runner-up.
The owners of The R.E.S.T. Stop, Tom and Heidi Turner, will receive the prize package worth $20,000 gaining both monetary and professional assistance. Plaza Jalisco, will receive a second-place prize package worth nearly $8,000 contingent on it securing a location within six months and opening in 12 months.
“The JBDC is excited to be working with two great businesses to open in Jackson," JBDC member Molly Fransen said. "We feel these businesses will fit great in our community, and we look forward to their opening."
Construction on The R.E.S.T. Stop will begin mid-March, with a planned opening on Sept 1, 2020. The R.E.S.T. Stop will be located at 515 Second St. in Jackson, offering far-infrared (FIR) sauna therapy and real fruit smoothies and allowing customers to relax, energize, sweat and thrive. The Turners plan to partner with other local businesses to promote healthy living and teach the benefits of FIR saunas.
“We are excited to continue to develop the landscape of the downtown Jackson corridor by bringing a brand new business focused on infrared sauna therapy and real fruit smoothies spurred on by the JEDC and other key sponsors," Tom Turner said. “We are looking forward to a grand opening of The R.E.S.T. stop on Sept. 1.
Jackson will be the third location for Plaza Jalisco, which also has restaurants located in St. James and Windom. The owners are in the process of securing a suitable building for their Jackson location.
