WORTHINGTON — The official kickoff/registration for the local U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program in Nobles County is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at MAX 493, 1303 Oxford St.
Individuals are encouraged to participate in the Nobles County Toys for Tots in its mission by donating an unwrapped, new toy to children who would otherwise not receive a present on Christmas. Toy collection boxes will be in the front door area of the MAX 493 building. People may register to win one of several donated prizes.
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year. It then distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
This year's distribution date is set for Dec. 19. People who wish to apply to receive toys for their children may stop by and fill out an application with a Toys for Tots volunteer or take an application home to fill out and mail in later. Children should be left at home, and people are required to wear a mask in the building. All registration tables will be separated for social distancing purposes. All applications need to be filled out completely; cookies and hot chocolate will be available.
Pulver Towing and the Buffalo Ridge Leathernecks Marine Corps League detachment are primary sponsors. For more information, call Dan Harrington at (507) 360-7472 or Tina Johnson at (507) 329-7466.
