McCann heading International Festival’s art events

WORTHINGTON — Shawn McCann, whose permanent artwork is currently on the Center for Active Living and VFW Post 3958 as murals, will be leading workshops during this weekend’s International Festival.

McCann will at the festival’s Nobles County Government Center site on Friday creating a street painting for participants to enjoy throughout the festival. He will also lay out a template of a mandala design for all community members to participate in; the design effort will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

McCann will provide workshops at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday to help interested individuals learn skills and techniques in sidewalk chalk/street paintings. A sidewalk chalk contest will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, with judging at 3:45 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

The Artmobile will also be at the International Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. A session on T-shirt art will be from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by Mexican tissue flowers/painting from 2 to 3 p.m. and Chinese lantern creations from 3 to 4 p.m. There will be sharing of “A Better Life” (coming to America-Worthington) stories on the Artmobile Bench.
