LUVERNE — Minnesota’s only “gravel pit” ice fishing tournament is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Lake, 815 W. Edgehill, Luverne.
The fifth annual tournament offers numerous prizes thanks to organizers and generous sponsors. Among the prizes:
Free rod, reel and tackle for the first 100 youth to register.
$500 cash prize for the largest fish caught by an adult.
$500 cash prize for the largest fish caught by a youth.
Over 40 prizes awarded in both adult and youth categories valued at over $5,000.
One of 150 raffle tickets will be chosen to receive a 2020 Ice Castle, to be awarded at noon.
Permanent and temporary ice houses will be allowed depending on conditions; concessions will be available and official tournament judging is provided by the Beaver Creek Sportsmen Club.
Registration and fee payment begins at 11:30 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be Feb. 15.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a “day on the ice” in Luverne.
