WINDOM — The front lawn of the Business, Arts & Recreation Center (BARC), located at 1012 Fifth Avenue in Windom, will be home to the annual Community Block Party beginning at 5 p.m. Monday.

The event is open to all. Food for the lawn picnic will include a choice of a hamburger or brat sandwich, potato chips, beverage and cookie, all for a free-will donation. Food will be prepared by Hy-Vee, with support from Thrivent.

Picnic tables will be set up to maintain social distancing, and take-outs will be available. A drawing for bikes, trikes and scooters will also take place.

BARC is in need of financial support from area citizens, as its regular income has diminished significantly as a result of COVID-19. Memberships will be available at the block party, as will details regarding benefits of becoming a BARC member.

The BARC annual meeting will take place in the BARC Auditorium at approximately 7 p.m. Monday. A Memorial Garden Tribute will take place in the auditorium just prior to the annual meeting, citing the names of those who have been memorialized at BARC this year. Social distancing will be observed in the auditorium, and wearing masks is requested. BARC will have masks available for the public.

A silent auction is also part of the festivities, and Items can now be viewed and bids recorded from 8 to 5 p.m. weekdays on the stage in the BARC Auditorium. Bidding will close following the annual meeting.

For more information about the block party, the silent auction or becoming a BARC member, contact the BARC Office at (507) 831-2375.
