OKOBOJI, Iowa — A bilingual storytime with the book “I Know the River Loves Me” will be the program for the March 26 Family Nature Night at Dickinson County Nature Center.
The program will be hosted inside the new Maser Monarch Lodge on the west side of the Nature Playscape. Time slots will be 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with a limit of eight families per program.
The program will teach about the water cycle in both English and Spanish. Participants will read Maya Christina Gonzalez’s book about the beauty of water and then explain why water is so important through the water cycle. The kids will also be able to paint with watercolor paints and play a game called “The Incredible Journey.”
Each family will be placed at a table with art supplies for each child coming with them. It will be easy to social distance, and families won’t have to share supplies in the interest of safety. Everyone aged 2 and up will be asked to wear a mask.
When calling to reserve a spot, please share how many children will be coming with you so all receive supplies.
Family Nature Night lasts approximately 45 minutes and is free to the public. Pre-register for one of the two time slots by calling (712) 336-6352.
