WORTHINGTON — Easter’s right around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time for an “eggs-travaganza” of sorts.
The Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee has organized an Eggs-Travaganza event that’s set to begin Monday and continue through April 10. It’s being promoted as a fun Easter egg hunt for families of Worthington and surrounding communities.
“Participating business owners are hiding the eggs in their stores,” explained Jennifer Solt, who owns and operates Threads & Decor in Worthington and co-chairs the Chamber’s retail committee. “When people find those eggs, we encourage them to take a selfie and post it to the Shop Worthington Facebook page with the hashtag #shopwgtnmn.”
All participants in the hunt will be entered to win a grand prize of a gift basket valued at more than $200, The basket will be filled with items from the businesses participating in the Eggs-Travaganza event.
“The goal is to get people to support their local businesses and to have fun doing it,” Solt said.
There has been an annual Easter-themed event in Worthington in past years, she added, but the committee decided to change things up a bit for 2021.
“In prior years we had coupons for other businesses hidden in our stores,” Solt said. “This year, we just decided to make it more of a community event. The hunt is going to be fun.”
Businesses participating in this year’s Eggs-Travaganza include Threads & Decor, Profile By Sanford, The Stag, Seed & Stem 12:27, The Daily Apple, Brown’s Shoe Fit, Johnson Jewelry, Adorn 1024, Classy & Sassy Boutique, Transicion Salon and Schwalbach Ace Hardware.
