LUVERNE — Race planner Heather Namminga is coordinating the inaugural “Pound the Mound” foot race in collaboration with Chris Ingebretsen of Blue Mounds State Park, Friends of Blue Mounds State Park and the Luverne Area Chamber.

The event is a 10-, 20- or 30-mile foot race over the trails at Blue Mounds State Park on May 15. The event will take place regardless of rain, snow, sleet or shine.

The 30-mile race begins at 7 a.m., followed by the start of the 20-mile race at 8 a.m. and the 10-mile race at 9 a.m.

Racers from throughout the tri-state area are participating, with some coming from more than 200 miles away. Participant numbers are capped at 75 people to maintain social distancing and safety protocols.
