WORTHINGTON — The 12th annual Mary Kay 5K and 2-mile family fun walk will take place at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Nobles County Fairgrounds.
Packet pick-up and on-site registration begins at 6 p.m. Go online to www.mnswcc.org — the Southwest Crisis Center — for information on how to register.
“This is our 12th annual fundraising event alongside the Nobles County Fair,” said Teresa Widboom, Mary Kay Senior Sales Director and race director. “We are honored to bring Mary Kay’s mission to life through this opportunity to make a local impact to help support those experiencing domestic and sexual violence.”
Established in 1996, the foundation has granted more than $25 million to organizations fighting cancer and violence against women. The MK5K in Worthington lets area runners and walkers be part of that effort.
Proceeds from the race will also benefit the Southwest Crisis Center, a local non-profit.
“We are honored to once again be selected as recipient of funds raised from this race,” Southwest Crisis Center Executive Sara Wahl said. “Funds raised from this year’s race will go to support our new housing program, Project Stepping Stones.”
The mission of the Southwest Crisis Center is to provide support, advocacy and hope to individuals and families impacted by sexual and domestic violence, sexual exploitation and child abuse.
