ADRIAN: A Veterans Day program will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Adrian High School Gym, with the Adrian and Lismore Legions participating. Special music will be provided by the Adrian Elementary, Middle School and High School choirs and Middle School/High School band. The Adrian High School National Honor Society will serve a breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. in the High School Commons for veterans as a thank you for their service.

BREWSTER: Round Lake-Brewster School will host a Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Brewster Elementary old gym. Attendees are asked to use the side entrance to the gym.

EDGERTON: A Veteran’s Day program will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Southwest Minnesota Christian High School.

HARDWICK: Hardwick American Legion Post 478 will host a Veterans Day banquet with a social at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Hardwick Legion Hall. Guest speaker is Vietnam veteran Keith Schmuck, with special patriotic music by Maddie Oye. The event is open to the public.

HERON LAKE: The Heron Lake-Okabena Veterans Day program will begin at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at the Okabena public school gymnasium. Featured speaker is Steve Fossness, 2nd District Commander.

JACKSON: A Veterans Day program will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson County Central High School. Prior to the event, Riverside Elementary School students will line up from 9:30 to 10 a.m. along North Highway to sing for veterans, holding posters of thanks. Veterans are encouraged to drive by on their way to the program at JCC and stop for treats in the Salem Lutheran Church parking lot.

LAKEFIELD: Pleasantview Elementary and the Jackson County Central Middle School are hosting a Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the middle school. The fourth grade class from Pleasantview Elementary and some JCC middle school students will participate in the program to honor veterans. Fourth-graders will sing songs including “The Heart of America” and “A Grateful Nation” and fifth grade instrumentalists will play music at the beginning of the program. The public is invited to attend.

LUVERNE: A Veterans Day Program is planned at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Luverne Public Schools Performing Arts Center. Guest speaker is Jeff Thacker, a member of the Minnesota National Guard who recently returned from an overseas deployment. Also, the Herreid Military Museum in Luverne will host tours and an open house from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

OKABENA: The Heron Lake-Okabena Veterans Day program will begin at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at the Okabena public school gymnasium. Featured speaker is Steve Fossness, 2nd District Commander.

ROUND LAKE: American Legion Post 461 will host the 44th annual Nobles County Council Veterans Day dinner on Thursday with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a meal at 6:30 p.m. at the Post hall, 409 Second Ave., Round Lake. Serving roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, corn, roll, beverage and dessert. Meal tickets are available at the door. SIBLEY, IOWA: A Veterans Day program will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Sibley-Ocheyedan High School. Featured speaker is Jake Bosma, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard. The high school band and choir will provide music, and refreshments will be served afterward. Veterans and family members are encouraged to attend.

SLAYTON: A Veteran’s Day program will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Murray County Central High School.

WESTBROOK: A Veterans Day program will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School gym in Westbrook. The guest speaker will be Staff Sgt. Matt Persons, a recruiter with the National Guard. The event is open to the public, and the high school band and choir will play. The VFW and American Legion will be there, and students who won the Patriots Pen essay contest will read their work.

WILMONT: The Wilmont VFW will host a Veterans Day potluck at noon Nov. 14, at the VFW Hall in Wilmont. Please bring a dish to share. All Gold Star families will be honored during the potluck. The public is invited to attend.

Also, the Buffalo Ridge Leathernecks Detachment 1463 will host a U.S. Marine Corps 246th Birthday Ball beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Wilmont VFW Hall. 1015 Steakhouse will cater a prime rib or prime pork meal, with Sgt. Mjr. Thomas Behrends to be the featured speaker. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Barry Roberts. WINDOM: Windom American Legion Post 206 and the Ladies Legion Auxiliary will host its Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Windom Area High School. Featured speaker is Rep. Rod Hamilton. Musical selections will be performed by the mass choir and Windom Area High School Band. A noon luncheon will be offered, with paid admission, at the Windom Country Club following the program.

WORTHINGTON: St. Mary’s School will host a Veterans Day program at 9 a.m. Thursday. The public is invited to attend. The ceremony will include a presentation of the flags, followed by a short program, as well as patriotic songs sung by the students. Refreshments will be served following the program.

Worthington High School will host a Veterans Day program at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the WHS gym. The student-led program will include student speakers and musical selections, as well as a recognition event honoring a local veteran.

Prairie Elementary invites all veterans to a free breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a program at 7:45 a.m.
