Flag disposal available Saturday in Ellsworth

ADRIAN -- The Buffalo Ridge Leathernecks Detachment #1463, Marine Corps League of Adrian will accept worn and damaged U.S. flags from the public at the Ellsworth Family Fun celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

ADRIAN - The Buffalo Ridge Leathernecks Detachment #1463, Marine Corps League of Adrian will accept worn and damaged U.S. flags from the public at the Ellsworth Family Fun celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

According to the U.S. Flag Code, when the American flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by a controlled burning ceremony.  

Anyone with anAmerican flag that should be properly disposed of - and unable to attend the Ellsworth event - may contact Dan Harrington at (507) 360-7472 or Gary Stewart at (507) 360-3171.
