WORTHINGTON - Linda Heidebrink of Worthington was the big winner in the fourth annual Early Risers Kiwanis Club’s Grocery Dash, tallying up $625.25 in free groceries during her dash through Worthington’s Fareway store Monday evening.
Before the dash, Heidebrink could select up to $300 from the meat department, with up to five of each item and wrapped the way she wanted. When her two-minute dash began, she collected the bag of meat for her cart and proceed throughout the store to complete the time.
The names of three runners-up were also drawn in the fundraiser, with their task being a challenge to see how well they knew their grocery store. Amber Frisch, Mark Hagen and Pat Morphew were each given the same five items to place back on the shelf in the proper place in the least amount of time. Frisch won a $200 Fareway gift card, Hagen won the $100 gift card and Morphew a $50 gift card.
The Early Risers Kiwanis Club hosts this annual fundraiser with monies donated to youth programs within the community, such as K-Kids and QWIK Awards at Prairie Elementary, VOKK at the Middle School and many more.
“Thank you to everyone from the 38 different communities who purchased a ticket to support our youth,” noted members of the Early Risers.
