In this photo from the Daily Globe archives of 1940 and originally published Dec. 20, 1940, Drs. B. O. Mork Sr. (left) and Dr. Schade prepare Edwina Smith, Darlene Thompson, Geraldine Roberts and Marcella Winter to be immunized against diphtheria and smallpox in the Memorial Auditorium gymnasium. This photo is one of many being scanned and preserved as part of a Minnesota State Historical Society digitization grant to preserve the vast photographic negative archives of The Globe recently received by the Nobles County Historical Society. The negatives are being scanned and then preserved in archival-quality envelopes. The resulting images are digitized and researched via microfilm archives of the newspaper to retrieve and preserve as much information as possible. The Globe plans to print selected images from the project on a weekly basis.
