WORTHINGTON: The American Legion Post 5, VFW Post 3958 and local Scouts will present graveside services at 8:30 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 9:30 a.m. at Worthington Cemetery, and 10 a.m. at Freedom Shore Park and Veterans Memorial. A Memorial Day program will begin at 11 a.m. at Chautauqua Park, with Dan Anderson as the guest speaker. The ‘Amazing’ Worthington City Band will perform as part of the program.

 

ADRIAN: Memorial Day services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Adrian Cemetery, and at 10 a.m. in the St. Adrian Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Kristi Kranken will be the guest speaker. Following the services, the Post 32 Auxiliary will serve refreshments in the Legion Hall for the public.

 

ASHTON, Iowa: Coffee and rolls will be served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Ashton Legion Hall, followed by a Memorial Day service starting at 9:30 a.m. and a cemetery service at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Day dinner will take place at the Legion Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

AVOCA: Donald E. Ewy Post/Unit #576 will present a Memorial Day program at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Avoca Community Hall. Lunch will follow the service.

 

BREWSTER: Brewster Legion Post 464 will host a Memorial Day program at 9 a.m. Monday. Guest speaker is Tom Behrends. Following the program, coffee and rolls will be served.

 

BEAVER CREEK: A Memorial Day program will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Beaver Creek Elementary School. Guest speaker is Mike Dishman. Breakfast at the fire hall will be from 7 to 10 a.m., with coffee and bars served at the elementary school at 9:45 a.m. The American Legion and Luverne VFW will visit the cemetery at 11:15 a.m.

 

CHANDLER: American Legion Ezra Barrows Post #338 will host a Memorial Day service at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the Chandler Community Center. Mark Carlson will give the address.

DUNDEE: The Joseph Suding Post 386 of Dundee will serve coffee and rolls beginning at 9:30 a.m., with a Memorial Day program to begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Guest speaker will be Dan Beerman. Graveside services will follow the program at St. Mary’s Catholic and First Lutheran cemeteries. The American Legion encourages all who have served their country to march with them. Non-Legion members are cordially invited.

 

EDGERTON: Pancakes, sausages, juice, milk and coffee will be served at Southwest Minnesota Christian High School from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Free will donations are gratefully accepted.

 

ELLSWORTH: A Memorial Day service sponsored by the American Legion and Auxiliary will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Ellsworth School gym. Brett Heikes will be the guest speaker. Following the program, the Ellsworth High School Band will serve a pancake breakfast.

 

FULDA: The Fulda VFW and American Legion Color Guard will conduct military services at all cemeteries beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. and proceed to the lake for services, then to Fulda High School for a 10 a.m. program. Lunch will be served in the high school cafeteria following the program until noon.

HARDWICK: The Hardwick American Legion Post 478 will host a Memorial Day program at 10 a.m. Monday, at the Veterans Memorial. In case of rain it will be held in the Hardwick Legion Hall. Guest Speaker is Madilyn Oye, college student at SDSU. Readings by Shane Berning, 2018 Boy Stater and Melissa Teal, 2018 Girl Stater. Special Music by Bruce Dysthe.

 

HERON LAKE: The Honor Guard will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at 8 a.m., and at Lakeside Cemetery at 8:15 a.m., followed by a Memorial Day program at 9 a.m. Monday at the Heron Lake Community Center. Guest speaker is Nobles County Veterans Service Officer Bill Brockberg. The Heron Lake-Okabena Band will perform, and refreshments will be served following the program.

 

HILLS: The Hills American Legion will host a Memorial Day program at 9 a.m. Monday. Guest speaker is Chief Master Sgt. Zona Hornstra, of the 114th Fighter Wing Command Chief, S.D. Air National Guard. Following the program, a wreath will be placed at Memorial Gardens on Main Street. Refreshments will then be served at the Legion.

 

HOLLAND: The American Legion will host a Memorial Day program at the cemetery at 10 a.m.

 

IONA: VFW Post #9680 will host Memorial Day services at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Badger Lake Cemetery and approximately 9:45 a.m. Monday (following mass) at St. Columba Cemetery. Coffee will be served in the St. Columba Hall following the 9:45 a.m. service. Services will be in St. Columba Hall in the event of inclement weather.

 

JACKSON: A parade from the American Legion to Ashley Park will begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday. A program will follow at Ashley Park, with guest speaker Nancy Opheim, retired colonel in the United States Air Force that grew up in Jackson. The program will also feature music by the Jackson Brass Ensemble. A ceremony at Sunset Cemetery will follow the program.

 

JASPER: A Memorial Day program will be held at Jasper Evangelical Lutheran at 10:30 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Jasper Quarry Lions will hold a luncheon in the Jasper Evangelical Lutheran fellowship hall.

 

JEFFERS: A Memorial Day program will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Jeffers United Methodist Church. United Methodist Church Pastor Mike Stangeland will be the program speaker. A ceremony will follow the program at the Jeffers Cemetery. A potluck lunch will be served following the ceremony at the Jeffers Senior Center.

 

KINBRAE: The Joseph Suding Post 386 of Dundee will host a graveside service at Kinbrae Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

 

LAKEFIELD: A Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lakefield Cemetery. American Legion Commander David Fahlsing will give the message. Lakefield United Methodist Church Rev. Carolyn Doering will provide prayer. A potluck will follow the ceremony at the American Legion. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Jackson County Central Middle School auditorium.

 

LAKE WILSON/WOODSTOCK: The American Legion Herbert Holtke Post #285 will pay tribute Monday at the following times: 9 a.m. Ellsborough Lutheran Cemetery (7.5 miles north of Lake Wilson); 9:15 a.m. Lutheran Cemetery (4 miles north of Lake Wilson); 9:45 a.m. Catholic Cemetery, Woodstock; 10 a.m. Woodstock Cemetery, Diamond Corner; and 10:30 a.m. Hillside Cemetery, Lake Wilson. A Memorial Day service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Legion Hall in Lake Wilson. The Rev. Kerry Boese will give the address. A picnic dinner will follow.

 

LISMORE: The Lismore American Legion, Sons of the American Legion and Auxiliary will host a Memorial Day program at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lismore Legion Hall, followed by military services at St. Anthony, Limore and St. Anthony West cemeteries. Following the services, a community potluck meal will be served at the Legion Hall.

 

LUVERNE: A candlelight vigil will begin at dusk Sunday, at the Rock County Veterans Memorial on the Courthouse Square.

A Memorial Day service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.

The Minnesota Veterans Home at Luverne will host a Memorial Day program at 2:30 p.m. May 30. Guest speaker is Staff Sgt. Medic Darcy Lowman-Craig with the South Dakota Medical Command. Military honors will be performed by the Luverne VFW Post 2757 and American Legion Post 123.

 

MOUNTAIN LAKE: A Memorial Day program will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Mountain Lake Public School auditorium. A joint program of the public school and Mountain Lake Christian School, the program will include music and speeches from students.

 

OCHEYEDAN, Iowa: A Memorial Day service will begin at 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Vander Heide will present the address. Coffee and doughnuts will be served for a freewill offering after the service. In case of inclement weather, the program will move to Ocheyedan Town Hall.

 

PIPESTONE: A Memorial Day program will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pipestone Cemeteries, 116th Street (just northwest of Pipestone).

 

ROUND LAKE: Round Lake Legion Post 461 will host a Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Post. Guest Speaker is Bruce Loosbrock, a member of the Lismore Sons of the American Legion. The Rev. Robert Bartlett of the First Presbyterian Church of Round Lake will give the invocation and benediction. Post and Auxiliary members Ned Jones and Sharon Meyer will read the Honor Roll for the Legion and Auxiliary respectively. Following the program, Post members go to the Round Lake Cemetery to play Taps and render military honors and a rifle squad salute. Everyone is then invited back to the Post for reception with coffee and snacks.

 

SIBLEY, Iowa: A Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Holman Township Cemetery.

 

SIOUX VALLEY: Sioux Valley American Legion Post #614 will host a 10:30 a.m. service at Sioux Valley Cemetery. An 11 a.m. program will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church. Featured speaker will be Bill Brockberg. A potluck meal will follow the program.

 

SLAYTON: American Legion Erwin March Post #64 and VFW Post #6322 will host a Memorial Day program. At 8:45 a.m., a Rifle Salute will take place at the Murray County Memorial. Visits to Memorial Gardens (9 a.m.), Hadley (9:30 a.m.) and St. Ann’s (10 a.m.) cemeteries will follow, and a wreath will be placed in the river at 10:15 a.m. Coffee will be served from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the Murray County Central School Gym. The Memorial Day program will begin at 11 a.m.

 

STORDEN: A Memorial Day program will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church. Speaker will be Steve Kjorness. A military salute in Storden City Park will follow, and there will be a potluck dinner at Storden American Legion Hall.

 

WESTBROOK: VFW and Legion Posts in the Westbrook area will conduct Honors programs at 9 a.m. Monday at Rosehill Cemetery, rural Westbrook; and at 9:15 a.m. at the Mennonite Cemetery, rural Westbrook. A Memorial Day program will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School gym. Guest speaker is Gen. Norris Einertson, U.S. Army, Retired, former Chief of Chaplains. Immediately following the program there will be a short honors program at the veterans memorial at the Westbrook Cemetery.

 

WILMONT: Wilmont VFW Post 2603 will celebrate Memorial Day at 8:30 a.m. at Reading Cemetery, 9:30 a.m. in St. Kilian Cemetery and 10:30 a.m. in Wilmont Cemetery, followed by refreshments and lunch at the post home. In case of inclement weather, there will be a 10:30 a.m. gathering at the post home for indoor services and lunch.

 

WINDOM: The Windom American Legion Post 206 will host a 10:30 a.m. Memorial Day Program at the Windom Community Center. Guest speaker will be Pastor Jayson Sherman and introduction of this year’s girls and boys state selections will be made. Music by Windom Area High School students. Memorial services will follow the program at Lakeview Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.
