WORTHINGTON - A variety of local cuisine will be highlighted and served up April 12, and individuals won’t have to travel far to get a taste of it all.
From 6 to 8 p.m., an assortment of unique local dishes and appetizers will line the Historic Dayton House for the inaugural Taste of the Town event.
“We have about a dozen food vendors on board that are excited to share their special dishes with the community,” said Historic Dayton House House Director Gretchen Scheidt.
Samples of spring rolls, pork, chicken, barbecue and an array of appetizers are all on the menu, with a few surprises to come on the evening of the event. A cash bar - featuring an assortment of wine, beer and soda - will also be available for a total social dining experience.
Scheidt said the idea for the event was inspired by her desire to create an evening showcasing the culinary talents of individuals, businesses and restaurants.

“I also thought it would be a creative way to expose people to the Historic Dayton House while raising money for our local landmark and giving the community something exciting and different to do,” she added.
Tickets must be purchased in advance by contacting Scheidt at (605) 400-1030 or via email at gretchen.scheidt@gmail.com .
Scheidt said all funds will go directly to maintaining and sustaining the Historic Dayton House, 1311 Fourth Ave., Worthington.
