Widboom is finalist for $10,000 donation
INDIANAPOLIS — A Worthington farmer and the Worthington Area YMCA are seeking voters’ support in order to make a difference in the community.
Matt Widboom is one of 10 finalists in the Power to Do More contest sponsored by Resicore corn herbicide from Dow AgroSciences. In his entry, Widboom’s photo shows the power on his family farm, which comes from raising the fourth generation. Widboom nominated the Worthington Area YMCA as a community organization deserving of a $10,000 donation.
Widboom and the Worthington Area YMCA need to earn the most votes on PowerToDoMore.com by May 21 to win. Winners will be notified in June.
Along with the community donation, Dow AgroSciences will award the top three vote-earners a trip for two to the winners’ dream sports field later this year. Widboom chose Fenway Park in Boston, Mass.
“Farmers work incredibly hard to produce abundant crops for the world,” said Lyndsie Kaehler, U.S. corn herbicides product manager for Dow AgroSciences. “We look forward to sharing these farmers’ stories and giving the top three the power to do more in their communities through three $10,000 donations to the non-profit organization of their choice.”
