Red Cross hosting blood donor opportunities

ST. PAUL — The American Red Cross has extended its urgent call for donors of all blood types to give blood. With influenza escalating across the country and preventing some donors from giving — and winter weather threatening to cancel blood drives — the Red Cross now has a critical shortage of type O blood and urgently needs donors to restock the shelves.

The following upcoming area blood donation opportunities are available:

Adrian: 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Adrian High School, 415 Kentucky Ave.

Edgerton: Noon to 6 p.m. Jan. 29, First Presbyterian Church, 501 Seventh Ave. W.

Heron Lake: 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 12, Community Center, 312 10th St.


Jackson: 1 to 6 p.m. Feb. 13 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 14, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 614 Logan Ave.

Lakefield: 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 11, Immanuel Lutheran Activity Center, 620 Bush St.

Mountain Lake: 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3, Community Center, 1027 Second Ave.

Pipestone: 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28, St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 415 S. Hiawatha Ave.

Slayton: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 5, Silverberg’s, 2630 Broadway Ave.

Worthington: 1 to 7 p.m. Jan. 30, American Reformed Church, 1720 Burlington Ave.

Donors of all blood types — especially types O positive and O negative — are urged to make an appointment to give blood now using the Red Cross Blood Donor App , visiting , calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
