REGIONAL — Two more counties announced this week that their county fair is cancelled for 2020 due to ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19.
The Cottonwood County Fair board met Monday night and voted to cancel this year’s fair. The Rock County Fair board met Tuesday night and they, too, opted to cancel.
In Osceola County, Iowa, fair board members met with 4-H and FFA livestock superintendents earlier this week, where they decided to have a show-and-go event for 4-H and FFA members in place of the fair, which had been scheduled for mid-July. All other events, including commercial exhibits and grandstand shows, had already been cancelled.
The Murray County Fair board has a meeting planned June 11 to make a decision.
Already, Nobles and Pipestone counties have cancelled their county fairs this year, as has Lyon County in northwest Iowa.

The Jackson County Fair still plans to host a fair July 28 through Aug. 1, while the Dickinson County Fair in Spirit Lake is still planned to go on as scheduled July 17-23.
