WILMONT — The Wilmont VFW Auxiliary announces that Keyona Klingenberg of Adrian Public School has won third place at the state level for the Minnesota VFW Auxiliary Art Contest, "Illustrating America."
Last fall, area schools were invited to participate in this patriotic contest. Following state guidelines, students were directed by their teacher to create an original artwork to represent his/her own view of America. Students from Adrian, as well as St. Mary’s and Prairie Elementary in Worthington, participated in the Minnesota VFW Auxiliary competition.
The Wilmont VFW Auxiliary selected the best artwork from all three schools and submitted its choices to the district competition. Last spring, Kiley Dammer for the kindergarten through second grade category and Klingenberg for grades 3-5 were awarded certificates and cash prizea for placing at the district level.
This fall, Wilmont VFW Auxiliary learned that Klingenberg earned third place at the state level. She received a certificate and $35 for her artwork.
