Pipestone monument to show film series
PIPESTONE — Pipestone National Monument and the National Park Service are celebrating National American Indian Heritage Month in November with a showing of the 2018 Public Broadcasting System (PBS) film series “Native America.”
It’s a four-part series, with part one showing at 11 a.m. Nov. 24 at the Pipestone National Monument Visitor Center Auditorium. Parts two through four will show on consecutive Saturdays — Dec. 1, 8 and 15 — at the same location and time.
At noon Nov. 24 — immediately following the documentary — Megan Stroh Messerole will give a one hour presentation, “Traveling Pipestone Tablets and the Stories They Tell,” with a half-hour for questions afterward. Messerole works as the archeologist for the Sanford Museum and Planetarium in Cherokee, Iowa.
