Annual summer activities are taking place this weekend in both Slayton and Jackson.

The 2019 Murray County Draft Horse Show got underway Friday and continues today and Sunday at the Murray County Fairgrounds. Featured are the cart team, unicorn, 4-horse and 6-horse hitch classes. Horse-powered farming demonstrations are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. today, while 6-horse hitch competition is set for 2 p.m. today and 12:30 p.m. Sunday. In Jackson, the annual Rhythm of the River music festival began with three concerts Friday evening and continue today at Fort Belmont. Scheduled to perform are Medicinal Purposes (1 p.m.), John David & The Jerks (2:30 p.m.), Wild Ponies (4:15 p.m.), Molly Maher & Her Disbelievers (5:45 p.m.), The Last Revel (7:30 p.m.) and Chicken Wire Empire (9:30 p.m.).
